Hunting alone wasn’t her forte, how did May expect to succeed at monster hunting? That’s what the locals who hired here called it at least. Now there wasn’t really a doubt in her heart but, there were also gargantuan lizards, unruly primates and Kami knows what on this planet. Those could easily be mistaken for monsters, hell she could be mistaken for one. Judging wasn’t the right course of action, but neither was violence. May needed to let out her rage, this week hadn’t been too good on her heart. So she needed this, to vent. “Pfff. Stupid week, not my fault people can’t have fun.”
Frustration was bright enough in her face to light the night. Even the cold sand and shale palled to cold dread in her thoughts. As angry as she wanted to be, she knew it was her fault. That only made it a bigger hill to climb, she wasn’t taught right but she needed to be better. Social skills weren’t exactly in her parents repertoire of skills. “Wish mom taught me anything about flirting…”she sighed out as the moon shined down upon her. For the first time in awhile a cute girl had decided to talk to May. Dating had never been option but she always wished to try. You would think she would initiate but au contraire she liked when someone was more forward. That’s exactly what the red head was too.
She was thinking about it so much she didn’t feel the thundering thuds from behind. The only thought in May’s mind was how the young lady said to her “Nice jacket, it would look nice on my floor” she thought about how she struggled to response, how she wanted to be smooth but the fear of weakness crept in. It poisoned her thoughts, now even masking her senses from the approaching mass from behind. The racing ache of remembering when she so stupidly said “nice face, I bet it would look good with my fist in it.” WHY DID SHE SAY THAT?!? Just thinking , remembering brought white-hot pins pricks on her ears. It was deafening, no wait, that was the blood curdling scream of a great beast behind her.
THWACK! Followed by a very prompt, and squelching CRACK!! would ring out. This painful song came from Maycair’s rib cage as a thick, meaty tail slammed into the side of her body. It was hard to make out the shape of her attack besides being big, she couldn’t see that well from being rocked that hard. “That was a bastard move you bastard.” She angrily spat out as if it was passionate poetry. When her vision began to realign she could make out the shape of her attacker. It was a massive panther-like creature, but its’ tail was prehensile, and it hurt.
“You know I don’t take kindly to you hitting me with that, I believe I was looking for you anyway but still not a very nice hello!” May shouted out, walking closer as the verbal onslaught continued. “You half-wit, mildew smelling, piss poor panther with no politeness are very bad kitty, I think it’s’ time out!” Charging now towards the beast it only had one response, a growl.
She closed the distance, it looked as if it was going to try and pounce, she wasn’t going to give him the chance to get into the air. With a great leap she jumped, wincing from the pain in her ribs, “BLACK STAR STRIKER!!!’ She bellowed out, the ki around her hand taking a black glow. With her force she brought down her fist onto the panther’s skull. It would make a snapping sound, slamming the creature down into the ground.
“Good, now stay down.” She said confidently turning around to wake away from the creature. It would be nice to get paid, maybe be appreciated and get a good nap. Though, the panther definitely had other plans, a soft growl crackling forth from his lips. The great feline rose from the earth, letting out another screeching roar. Rage had radiated through this beast as well, seemed like he wished to continue the fight. Bolting forth from his spot the panther this time successfully leaped, crashing down on May to push her into the ground. The claws from the cat formed prison bars trapping her into the earth. She really did need better common sense.
“I’m assuming you don’t plan on letting me go by any chance?” She asked, the panther replying with a low growl. It pushed harder, crushing more of her ribs. If he kept this up she was going to be ground demon, she preferred to be a steak if anything. Mustering up here strength power began to flow into her. Her Demon Blight was activating, fueled with more strength she would have the power she needed to break free, crushing the imprisoning paw. Grabbing the toes she curled them back, lifting the beast off of her. Then, to ensure this time it was dead she would fly right through its chest. Acting as a human bullet should have been enough to put this beast down. Thankfully for her, she was right this time.
“Maybe I’m more of a dog person…” she said to herself chuckling a little. Relief had washed over her, maybe it was a good thing she came out her. For a moment she forgot all about her embarrassing day. In fact, she forgot about it for the rest of the day. Right now only a few feelings came to her mind. The first thing she wanted to do, even before collecting her reward, was to take a nice bath. She didn’t like smelling like death, then she could think about money, maybe a good meal as well. She would fly forward a few feet slowly till a though occurred to her. There was a good chance that the people would like proof of her deed.
Looking back at the beast she would mutter to herself. “Yeah…. I think that sounds like a good idea.”
